Seventy percent (70%) of the United States is experiencing snowfall and ice as severe winter weather effects large portions of the country. This is an unusually large storm that is bringing winter weather to parts of the country that typically do not receive snow, ice, or freezing temperatures and may not have the resources to deal with this weather. Many areas – particularly in Texas – do not have access to basic utilities such as electricity, heat, and potable water at this time.

As of midday Eastern Time on Thursday, there were 414 delays and 456 flight cancellations in the United States reported by FlightAware. The most severely affected airports were DFW, ORD, IAH, IAD, ATL, JFK, and EWR.

Port facilities on the East and Gulf coasts have closed due to the weather – including in New York/New Jersey, Baltimore, and Houston.

Hazardous road conditions have restricted trucking operations throughout the Northeast, East Coast, Midwest, South, and Gulf Coast. Disruptions should also be expected to rail service throughout the country.

Our customer service teams will remain operational through the storm to respond to your inquiries and to advise shipment status. Please understand though that these storms will present disruptions to transport that are outside of our control. We will do our utmost to keep you informed of these developments and to ensure your shipments are properly managed.
