Severe Weather Advisory - Winter Storm Orlena
Severe weather caused by Winter Storm Orlena is causing logistics disruptions throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Midwest United States. Up to two feet (61 centimeters) is expected in parts of the Northeast, with 12-18 inches expected in the New York City-area. As of Saturday, the storm had already left over a foot of snow in parts of the Midwest.
The storm is expected to continue through Wednesday in the Northeast, causing significant snowfall and high winds to a large portion of the country. States of emergency have been declared in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
The storm is restricting the movement of cargo by land up the East Coast from Washington, DC through New England, and as far west as Wisconsin. It is also disrupting flight operations. As of Monday morning, 109 flights were canceled at the New York City-area airports, as well as 25 cancellations and 32 delays at Washington, DC-area airports – according to Flight Aware.
Port terminals in New York and Baltimore have been closed.
